Triple Major:Cinema & Media Studies, Communication, and Danish
Class of 2019
Hometown: Olympia, WA
Favorite film of all time: Persona
Internships: KCTS 9 and the Seattle Channel (City of Seattle)

Why did you choose CMS as a major? Film has always been my passion and I knew that I was going to pursue it in my education. CMS is the perfect way to do so, as the major teaches me about film and filmmaking generally, allowing me to apply it to other aspects of my education and my desired career path of becoming a multimedia journalist.

What do you like most about the CMS program? Each professor has their niche, and I love learning about whatever insanely specific area that they are so passionate about.

Advice for prospective majors? All of my employers have been super excited to see CMS on my resume, so consider double majoring in it if you want to stand out and prove that you can create content.

How did you land an internship at KCTS 9? I simply applied! But beyond that, they cared more about my storytelling skills rather than the equipment I shot on.

What kind of work did you do there? Mostly short, fun videos for the Facebook page and covering events such as NFFTY and SIFF.

And at the Seattle Channel? I do everything from drafting social media posts and newsletters to helping out on location and studio shoots for Seattle Channel programs. I also research and write content for Seattle News NOW, a broadcast news-style program.
