'The Treachery of Images' and Videographic Criticism

Sarah Ross, PhD Candidate in Comparative Literature, Cinema and Media, will present her 12 minute video essay, "The Treachery of Images," which she created as part of the first graduate student cohort at the Middlebury College "Scholarship in Sight & Sound Workshop" during summer 2017.  She will discuss the importance of videographic criticism in humanities scholarship and the pragmatics of incorporating video-based criticism into traditional scholarly and teaching formats.  The q&a session will invite attendees to discuss interest in bringing the "Sight & Sound" coordinators from Middlebury to campus next year for a 2-day immersive workshop or other videographic production session.
