Thank You Cynthia, Welcome Míċeál!

On Friday, 1 June, faculty, staff and students gathered for lunch in the UW Club to celebrate Cynthia Steele’s retirement, after five years of commendable leadership, from her position as Chair of Comparative Literature. After a well-deserved sabbatical in Autumn Quarter, she will return to full time teaching and scholarship.

Míċeál Vaughan (English and Comparative Literature) succeeds her as Chair, beginning July 1st. A member of the department since 1975, Professor Vaughan specializes in the literatures of late medieval England, with particular interest in fourteenth- and fifteenth-century English manuscripts, and is one of the founders of our Textual Studies Program.
